ABEditore ha pubblicato un compact disc interamente dedicato alle composizioni di Giovanni Grosskopf.
Si intitola "A Forest Tale", e comprende i suoi principali lavori composti tra il 1994 ed il 2001.
Sono tutte registrazioni durante concerti dal vivo, curate personalmente dall'Autore.

È stato reso disponibile sia come cd fisico stampato da
farsi spedire, sia come serie di files da scaricare (mp3 più libretto in pdf.)

AB Editore has released a new compact disc entirely devoted to the music composed by Giovanni Grosskopf. Its title is "A Forest Tale", and it includes his main works composed between 1994 and 2001.
They are all live recordings, personally selected and edited by the Author.

RITUS: quasi terminato - RITUS: almost finished

Il grande progetto per una lunga composizione in 12 movimenti, intitolata "RITUS" (di cui si parla diffusamente qui) è ormai quasi giunto al termine. Sono stati composti undici movimenti su dodici. Tutto il materiale relativo al brano è ora scaricabile dall'apposita pagina di download.

The great project for a log composition in 12 movements, named "RITUS" (see the introduction to the piece here) has almost reached its end. Eleven movements out of twelve have been composed. All the materials related to this composition can now be downloaded from a specific download page.

Appuntamenti di marzo 2009 - March 2009 events

Domenica 22 marzo 2009 alle ore 16 è prevista a Milano, nella Sala delle Colonne del Palazzo Reale (piazza Duomo, 12) l'esecuzione di un movimento del brano "Ritus" (di cui si parla diffusamente qui), una lunga composizione per ensemble. Il movimento, intitolato "In nemore clamores" (che in latino significa "Richiami nel bosco") verrà eseguito dall'Ensemble Webern diretto da Luca Belloni. Si tratta del movimento n. 8 sul totale dei 12 movimenti previsti per Ritus.

Il 28 marzo 2009, alla sera, presso il Teatro Sociale di Como, presenterò, nella forma di una guida all'ascolto prima del concerto, un brano di Franz Schubert: il quartetto d'archi "La morte e la fanciulla" D810. Il brano, insieme alle altre composizioni in programma, verrà poi eseguito dal Quartetto d’archi della Scala.

A concert performance of a movement of my chamber music piece, named "Ritus" ( a long composition for ensemble which is introduced thoroughly here) is scheduled in Milan, Italy, Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace), piazza Duomo 12, on Sunday, March 22nd, 2009, at 4 pm, with the Ensemble Webern conducted by Luca Belloni.
The movement is named "In nemore clamores" (meaning in Latin "Calls in the woods"). It's the eighth movement of the 12 globally planned for Ritus.

I will introduce some days later (in the form of a guided listening) a piece by Franz Schubert: the string quartet "Death and the maiden" D810. This other event is scheduled in Como, at the Teatro Sociale, the evening of March, 28th, 2009. After the guided introduction, the piece will be performed, together with the rest of the program, by the Quartetto d'archi della Scala.

Ora si compone... - Now composing...

Dopo aver curato la preparazione del sito www.GKweb.it (che ha richesto oltre due mesi di lavoro), mi sto ora dedicando soprattutto alla composizione dell'undicesimo movimento del brano "Ritus" (di cui si parla diffusamente qui), una lunga composizione per ensemble. Quando sarà terminato, mi occuperò di ulteriori aggiornamenti al sito, soprattutto per quanto riguarda i contributi nella sezione "Etnica", i miglioramenti grafici nelle finestre contenenti i testi di presentazione dei brani nelle pagine di ascolto, qualche nuova segnalazione di links, e magari anche quanche consiglio discografico... Prevedo anche di riprendere intensamente il lavoro sul software di aiuto alla composizione (di cui si parla diffusamente qui), di lavorare a mettere ordine in alcune idee sul concetto di diversità linguistica in musica (con quali criteri si possono distinguere i diversi linguaggi musicali e quanti "tipi di diversità" possono esistere) e di continuare a segnalare il sito presso le istituzioni musicali.

Prima, però, devo terminare questo undicesimo movimento.

Nel frattempo, il sito è stato segnalato dall'AMIC, una delle più importanti istituzioni italiane riguardanti la musica contemporanea, ed è stato segnalato sul sito del nostro Conservatorio di Milano. Ha ricevuto molti consensi e sono stati presi interessanti contatti con persone che vi potranno collaborare, soprattutto per quanto riguarda la sezione "Etnica".

I have just finished the work on the site www.GKweb.it (which lasted for more than two months), I am now working mainly on the composition of the eleventh movement of a chamber music piece, named "Ritus" (which is introduced thoroughly here), a long composition for ensemble. When it is finished, I will work on further updates to the site, especially regarding the contributions to the section "Ethnica", the graphical enhancements to the windows containing the presentation texts of the compositions in the Listening pages, some new link suggestions, and perhaps also some discography suggestions... I want also to continue my work on the composition assistance software (introduced thoroughly here), to work on some ideas about the concept of linguistic diversity in music (which are the criteria used to distinguish different musical languages and how many "kinds of diversity" may exist) and to go on promoting the site in the world of musical institutions.

Before doing all this, anyway, I must finish this eleventh movement.

Meanwhile, the site has been reported on the pages of AMIC, one of the most important Italian institutions in the field of contemporary music, and a link has been posted on the pages of our Conservatory in Milan. The site has received many approvals and many interesting contacts have been established with people who are to give their own contribution on it, especially regarding the section "Ethnica".
